White Woven Fusible (Iron on) Interfacing

White Woven Fusible (Iron on) Interfacing

£1.50Price
1 Meter

Fusible interfacing has an adhesive on one side (visually looks like tiny glue dots) that allows you to attach it to fabric using heat to add shape and structure to a project. It is easy and simple for professionals and beginners to use.

Interfacing adds stiffness or strength to your fabric. In dressmaking it is typically used on things like collar and button placket pieces (among many other things), but you can also find it used in home decor and accessories such as the construction of bags and purses. You can also use it to stiffen the peaks of bucket hats!

TIP:
- For a temporary fuse use a hot, dry iron for 5 seconds.
- For a permanent fuse, use a hot steam iron for 10 seconds both sides (with a damp muslin press cloth ontop of the interfacing) and leave on board to cool.

The weight of the interfacing should generally be the same as the fabric, or a bit lighter.

Available in lightweight and medium weight.

    • Fusible interfacing works via heat activated glue. If you wash/dry in hot water, the glue can be reactivated and get unstuck/removed by the agitation of laundering. You can wash fusible interfacing but stick to cool temperatures.

    • Turn your garment inside out (once fabric has been sewn up) and machine wash on a gentle cycle up to 30°C. The lower the temperature, the better.

    • Using a iron, gently smooth it to its pre-wash outline.
    • Speed up the drying process by laying it flat in a well-ventilated place. Keep it away from the tumble-dryer, unless you want your garment's fusible interfacing to come unstuck due to heat reactivating the glue and tumbled around in the tumble-dryer.
    • Do not tumble dry
    • Please allow up to 10% shrinkage for all fabrics to be on the safe side. For all fabrics wash before making up in the same manner as would with subsequent washes (including drying methods).
    • If you are in any doubt about care instructions please always test a sample first to find the most suitable way to wash your chosen fabrics, as we cannot accept liability for fabrics washed or treated incorrectly.
    • Whilst every effort is made, we cannot guarantee that the colours you see on our screen are accurate because every screen is calibrated differently and settings are set differently.
    • All sizes and measurement for fabrics washed or treated are approximate.

There's video step by step tutorials for some makes in the Knighton Fabrics Facebook group, too!
