This sewing pattern works best with fabrics that don’t fray or curl when cut. The fabric should be on the lower end of medium weight (approximately 230 gsm works well) and have a good low drape that's structured, so that the bow keeps it’s shape but isn’t too bulky when gathered in the centre of the bow. It should have minimum stretch of approx 30% so that the centre of the bow can stretch around the bulk off the bow.
 
Fabric suggestions: lightweight scuba/neoprene, scuba crepe, bullet fabric, liverpool, heavy athletic lycra.
 
A regular sewing machine is all you need, but there are options in the pattern to reduce the amount of sewing and use hot glue gun.
